Developer Billingsley Co. is breaking ground on the next phase of its highly successful Cypress Waters northwest of Dallas adjoining Coppell. The 1,000-acre project at LBJ Freeway and Belt Line Road is already home to hundreds of apartments and several large office buildings. Billingsley Co. is starting more than 500 lakeside apartments plus retail space in a new section of Cypress Waters called The Sound. The Sound, on the south shore of North Lake, also includes offices for jewelry retailer Zale. "We are starting 537 apartments in two different blocks," said developer Lucy Billingsley. "One of the buildings will be seven stories — a bit taller than we've done before there. The new apartments are near a lakeside street of low-rise retail and office buildings that are done in vintage architectural styles. "We are even buying old brick for the exteriors to make it feel correct," Billingsley said. "There is a rooftop deck with restaurants upstairs." The new apartments, restaurant and retail at The Sound are scheduled to open in early 2018. The developer is also starting work soon on a five-story, 250,000-square-foot office building, 3100 Olympus Boulevard in The Sound.
