Texas has prided itself for decades on having some of the most affordable housing prices in the country. But a new comparison of housing costs around the country shows that Dallas-Fort Worth has almost caught up with nationwide home costs. D-FW’s median home sales price in the first quarter was $210,000, about 4 percent less than the national median price, according to a report by the National Association of Realtors. A decade ago, North Texas home prices were almost 30 percent more affordable than the nationwide median, according to the Realtors’ data. D-FW home prices have increased at substantially more than the nationwide rate the last few years.
